The Beat That My Heart Skipped – A blog dedicated to daily design inspirations. By Rohini Wahi.
A blog dedicated to daily design inspirations.
Inspired by a ribbon blowing in the wind, ‘Ribbon’ is a wall-mounted coat rack designed by Headsprung. Successfully merging function and art, when in use it holds up to five coats and scarves, but by itself is wall art. It comes in black, brown, yellow, pink orange, and white.
Wheee! It blows around charmingly on your wall all day long!
You can buy direct from Headsprung or take a look at stockist in your area. Prices start from £55 depending on the finish you choose.
What a great sanity saving solution by Mibo! Long gone are those ugly tile ‘designs’ in your rented accomodation or even newly purchased home – these vinyl stickers can be easily applied over existing 15cm x 15cm white tiles. You can choose from 3 designs, each in 2 colourways and once applied the decals are completely waterproof. Hurray for Mibo! £12.95 for a pack of 10 [i'd say these lifesavers were pretty priceless wouldn't you?]

The trend for wall decals has played a huge part in modern interiors for the last few years (sometimes to a poor walls detriment!). I’ve always considered them as interesting pieces of eye candy in interiors magazines and style shoots, but nothing I’d ever use in my home – I guess because they tend to dominate the space so. However, Rockett St George’s clever and delicate stickers which integrate themselves into an interior may just change my mind…

I love this world map sticker, it almost borders on useful design right?

Seeing as summer has essentially bid us adeu, I wanted to slip this post in as a glimmer of light remains…
I can’t stop day-dreaming about these very reasonable but oh-so-beautiful wooden Plantation shutters from Kelly Hoppen’s collaboration with B&Q or how they may change my life. Will I languish on a daybed like a Southern Belle, nursing a tall Mint Julep whilst gazing through the light slanted slats? Perhaps.
In true elegant Kelly Hoppen fashion, the shutters are available in a range of greys, taupes and blacks with options of eggshell finish or high gloss lacquer. Yum! Complimenting these are five hand crafted ‘overwashed’ stains blending rich deep stains with subtle whites, flaunting names such as ‘Nantucket Taupe’ and ‘Silver Pepper’. I challenge you not to whip out your credit card as you are invited to construct your own shutters online, from style to hue to finishing touches! Installed prices start from £310 per square metre.
