Lubna Chowdhary

I’ve been meaning to post about Lubna Chowdhary’s work which I spotted last year at Origin but lost her details. It’s only now that she’s doing the blog rounds that I found her again. I remember there being a huge crowd at Lubna’s stall, so much so that I could only manage to grab a card and wasn’t able to explore her work first-hand. Hundreds of her luscious tiles were displayed in boxes which of course everyone wanted to touch.

Lubna creates bold hand glazed tiles and a selection of interior products such as containers and platters with a retro/mid-century feel. My favourite are the above delicately coloured ‘Origami Tiles’ and pretty hand thrown containers available in a range of organic patterns.

New Minimoderns

Earlier this month, I was away for a mere two weeks and came back to discover Minimoderns, the wonderful brand for design conscious families, had in that short time launched a glorious amount of gorgeous items!

Firstly, a collaboration with Rug Designer brought about their first foray into the grander realms of soft furnishings. The collection of high quality, 100% wool rugs, based on some new and also classic Minimoderns prints, allows you to match designs with their existing wallpapers or to mix up patterns. Patterns include bold retro prints of bunches of flowers, vintage hot air balloons and my favourite, a toy town style scene of an Italian village.

Next, is their cool ‘Folk Rock’ collections of wallpaper inspired by the West Coast. The collection features four wallpapers with a soft psychedelic edge, ‘Pet Sounds’, ‘Alice’, ‘Fayre’s Fair’ and ‘C60′.

My personal favourite is the above, ingenious wallpaper pattern, ‘Pet Sounds’ which is a woodland cocophany of music making creatures! See the cute badgers and crafty squirrels? These are available soon in harvest orange, olive/powder paint blue and heather/bitter chocolate. Too exciting!

How unusual are these industrial effect wall stickers from French brand Harmonie Interieur? They remind me of loft style scenes from an Anthropologie catalogue…

I especially love the kids range featuring faded fairytale crests, banners and dreamlike circus processions across walls.

If you can’t commit to her gorgeous wallpaper – artist Claire Coles is selling these wonderful brooches made by intricately embroidering vintage wallpaper, leather and felt together. I would feel so proud to have one of these works of art on my lapel!
