Grahnat

Swedish Photographer and graphic design student Hilda Grahnat has a fondness for all things vintage and typographic.

I loved her ‘collection’ series of photographs composed of colour grouped charity shop finds. The lovely thing about vintage pieces are that they always hold a sense of the familiar, and even if you’re not a fan of found objects in your home, you can’t help but feel a tug of emotion.

New Sponsor – The French House!

The French House

I have always been a fan of the beautiful vintage furniture and accessories warehouse – The French House. Stocking a huge amount of gorgeous 19th century antiques, on trend 20th century design and beautiful curiosities, the main showroom in Parson’s Green is an inspirational place to visit in itself, so I am delighted to introduce them as our new sponsors!

Literally everything in the showroom is handpicked and carefully curated to the highest standard, from chairs, to sideboards to chandeliers and linens, and new stock is updated regularly. I especially love their unusual lighting range.  The French House also specialise in the restoration of furniture. Click here to be notified about new stock.

Blast from the past

Quilt_ikat_a

Oooohhh, coinciding with the V&A’s upcoming exhibition ‘Quilts 1700 – 2010′ the V&A Shop have created a limited edition collection of 18 printed quilting fabrics, which vividly bring to life designs from the quilts on display.

The quilts within the exhibition contain examples of British quilts dating from 1700 to the present day – earliest examples of which include a sumptuous silk and velvet bed-cover, with an oral narrative that links it to King Charles.

The exhibition promises to be a visual encyclopaedia of design, with thousands of minute pieces of fabric reflecting three centuries of pattern and print and so excitingly do the patterns available to buy, Imagine snuggling up to a quilt made of of one of these glorious prints this winter!

Find out more about these wonderful prints here.
