Pretty pretty new 2011 collection from Ferm Living inspired by playful geometric Harlequin patterns. I love the pastel hues of the buttering boards...

Storm in a Teacup!

storm-in-a-teacup

This might be the most exciting product I have seen all year!

Storm in a Teacup is a limited edition kinetic sculpture by UK designer John Lumbus. As you turn the handle on the teacup, the little boat will ride on the moving waves, while the stormy clouds reveal a bolt of lightning! These are available in Dutch and English designs.

I’m not actually sure whether you can drink tea out of them… I doubt it, but I love them!

Apparitions and Wonderlands

Undergrowth Design

There’s magic and drama in the air at the Hidden Art shop from Undergrowth Design who have just launched their new ‘Wonderland’ cutlery and ‘Apparition’ tumblers.

Each piece of cutlery in the aptly titled ‘Wonderland’ set has a magnifying glass inserted into the head of the character to allow you to see your food more carefully or read a menu or any fine print.

The Apparition range of tumblers have names like ‘Spectres in the Sky’ and ‘Mysterious Menagerie’ and are abstract and open-ended aiming to stimulate the imagination of the users to provoke memories, contemplation and to creative narratives of their own…

Pale Grey

Nkuku

So smitten with this pale grey Ishi Earthenware from Nkuku. The imperfections in their surfaces make them all the more beautiful.

Watch out for a magical book review today, and an Illustration Tuesday from yesterday carried over to today… and up next a dreamy artists studio in France…
