This house in Paris that was once an abandoned factory now belongs to Aurelie Mathigot a visual artist who decorates her house using an abundance of textiles, crotchet and pattern.

Here, everyday objects are covered in soft fabrics and creativity. In the living room, the couch was covered with a patchwork of fabrics and the piano’s keyboard is covered in a knitted replica of it’s keys. Near the window, as a transition between the exterior and interior, is a bundle of branches sheathed in pieces of knitted and crocheted wool.

In the bathroom tiles and squares of wallpaper are mixed to form a patchwork. The different patterns and colors seem as though the wall had been covered and re-covered with wallpaper year after year. Above the sink, a vintage mirror reflects and increases the illusion of patchwork.

The bedroom is a space of calm in tones of mauves and greys which add to the cloud soft effect of the crocheted bedspread.

Upper East Side meets West London

Lonfon Townhouse

I found this gorgeous London Townhouse in the US Elle Decor – I have a feeling that if  London and the Upper East Side ever collided this might be the result don’t you think? It may come as no surprise then that the home owner once worked as a buyer in Saks Fifth Avenue.

I love the relaxed yet luxurious feel of the home with bold details and vivid colours. My favourite piece has to be the blue and green hued impressionist portrait in the breakfast room – so elegant.

Palm Springs in Paris

Playful House

Just when I thought that we’d run out of original interior styles; trad, uber-modern, mid-century, retro, shabby-chic, industrial – this is none of those… this space I guess is an amalgamation of styles – graphic and modern and playful and nostalgic.

The owner attempted with this Parisian space to create an environment from 1950’s era Palm Springs in Paris! Do you think it works?

There are so many things I love about this home cum office – the pretty block colours on the wall, the photograph of an existing chair on the wall above… these firewood logs below painted in pastel colours…

Playful House

… the wooden sideboard that creates a surreal effect against the floor…

Playful House

…the graphic square of pink on the wall…

…the column of dusky grey…

…and this partitoned space that creates a waiting area.

The Elk In The Woods

Elk In The Woods

The perfect place to be in London in the summertime is a spacious public house. Huddled in between the antiques, books and vintage shops in London’s Camden Passage, The Elk in the Woods is cosy and spacious all at the same time.

The Elk is a rustic restaurant and bar with big solid tables and hearty food. Deer heads on the wall, floor to ceiling scrubbed wood slats and softly worn wallpapers complete the nostalgic effect.

I love the mixing of styles, with Scandi wood panels and English floral wallpapers, I’m not sure what the decor is trying to be, but it works…

I’ve always wanted to see what my home would look like furnished entirely in blue! Designed in 1964 by iconic Italian architect Gio Ponti, every detail of the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento, is blanketed in a brilliant cerulean blue, from the furniture to the lighting to the 30 different geometric-patterned tiles.

My favourite part has to be the tiles – they are such a work of art and the overall effect is so striking and soothing – never mind the amazing location!
