New Design House Stockholm

DHS

Some beautifully products from an old favorite Design House Stockholm, I love the muted palette of all of these, perfect for a cosy winter.

Their new addition above, the work lamp is a stunning industrial style piece, inspired by the garage and workshop and has been bought into the home by refining it with more defined angles. It is available in gold and chrome plated versions.

Below, Family Chairs is a take on the traditional Swedish stickback chair, each chair in the collection is different and is given a modern black finish.

Lastly, I just love their graphic and stylish range of plump and cosy cushions decorated with the  five most popular Swedish fabric designs of the 1950’s.

Let there be light!

Modern W

An email from The  Modern Warehouse popped into my inbox yesterday evening which made me long for some really stylish lighting on these dark nights. Paola Navone spotty paper lanterns I love you, but you’re getting a little underfoot [being so large] and may need a well overdue replacement. How glorious is the above 4 tiered Danish light? Gimme!

Raw Light

BenjaminHHeavy Lights

Concrete is one of my favourite materials. To most people it conjures up images of cold and ugly slabs of industrial turf, and is associated with unsightly tenements and dated constructions. I on the other hand see complex textures and grey tones that change with the light – and an array of possibilities in architecture and interiors.

That’s why ever since Benjamin Hubert sent me prototype images of his ‘Heavy Lamps’ earlier this year, I was intrigued as to how they would turn out. He didn’t disappoint – they are stunners! I love the contrast of their smooth concrete surface with their raw and textured underside. The lights are available in the array of shades cement naturally presents itself. The lights are prices at £450 per light watch this space for stockist details.

Benjamin shows us how they are made in his studio…

The colour Ochre

Ochre Lamps

Goodmorning! I wanted to start the day talking about one of my favourite Design companies Ochre [i even love that colour and the way its letters look together] who revealed their new collection at 100% Design last month. Ochre has been a company that never disappoints me with its emotive designs inspired by the elements. Producing beauties such as the glittering Arctic Pear Lamp, the painterly Horsehair Screen and magical Mercury Glass Side Table,  the brand is unrivaled in its originality. Run from their studio in Clerkenwell by the talented trio Joanna Bibby, Harriet Maxwell Macdonald and Solenne de la Fouchardiere, Ochre’s unique style continues to flourish and grow.

See their new big and bold ‘Warrior Lamps’ above from their A/W collection made using turned wood bases and beautiful patinated brass shades. So atmospheric for the winter months don’t you think? Click through on the right banner to see more of their fabulous work.

Today we have our very first ‘A Day With…’ look into the work day of ceramist Kaori Tatebayashi and many more goodies besides! Lets go!
