Carpetry

Lee Broom

Lee Broom, famed for his unique neon lit and light studded furniture, has returned with a new collection, again turning pre-conceived notions of interior furnishings on their head. ‘Carpetry’ is part of his ‘Heritage Boy’ range which transfers materials found in flooring onto furniture items. Carpetry features, immense sideboards, console tables and lightshades all embellished using traditional carpet patterns. Aren’t they pretty? The pendant light is certainly my favourite.

Other aspects of the range are ‘Parquetry’ using parquet flooring to create patterns on furniture and ‘Tile’ using traditional wall and floor tiles to create furniture items. See all of his concepts here.

Not sure I will ever get tired of hand blown pendant lights and brightly coloured flexes… so elegant and timeless. I love this geometric ‘Friday Light’ from Germany designers Reinhard Dienes.

Like a puff of smoke

Puffs of Smoke

Oh! How charming is this new collection of floor lamps from Slovenian architects Bevk Perović Arhitekti? They are designed to look like puffs of smoke – what a gentle and sweet idea.

I guess the lamps can be viewed two ways, as puffs of smoke that are emitted from the everyday, or akin to the sun that lights up our lives in these situations depicted by the lamp bases. Cute, and hopefully quite cheap to buy given the simple materials.

High Street Hits

B&Q
Clusta

I am really impressed with DIY brand B&Q’s lighting range for the home, as their range expands, their buying team are doing a great job with tapping into high street versions of design classics. All of these range from £33 -£79, and I think are great for adding interest to a spare room or hallway on a budget. Which do you like the best?

My absolute favourite out of her collection are these enchanting house lamps which have a street scene printed on. Some of the windows are cut away and light up when the lamp is switched on creating a cosy feel. I hope she makes more of them!
