My Inside Life…The Lollipop Shoppe

Marco Di Rienzo and and Siobhan Trewick moved to Brighton two years ago to bring up their small twins. At that time Siobhan sold vintage clothing through Liberty and Marco worked in the City. On arrival in Brighton, they decided to turn their passion for design into a business, and so The Lollipop Shoppe was launched.

Selling an eclectic mix of stunning, 20th century contemporary furniture from international design brands such as as Vitra, Knoll International, Swedese, Carl Hansen & Son and David Design amongst others and lighting by Louis Poulsen, Elio Martinelli, Zero Lighting, VerPan and Secto Design. Smaller homeware items range from the iconic to the eclectic are provided from the likes of Iittala, Stelton, Rosendahl and Design House Stockholm, to name a few. The Lollipop Shoppe also has an online store to buy from.

I spoke to Siobhan about her home life and interests…

My Inside Life…The Biscuiteers

If you haven’t tried some of these… do so immediately – they will change your life! The Biscuiteers produce beautiful tins of fresh and delicious handmade iced-biscuits which come in original collections; a box of ‘creepy crawlies’ for gardeners, a box full of poodles for dog lovers, iced tea cups for tea lovers, cooking utensils for cooks and charming designs for any occasion.

Chief Biscuiteer Harriet Hastings and husband Stevie co-founded The Biscuiteers in 2007 after the success of their catering company Lettice. With four children and two successful businesses, they juggle their time between their houses in London and Suffolk. Harriet answers a few of our questions…

Anyone frequenting the East End of London will know the whimsical work of Comfort Station. The fantastically styled East London boutique primarily produces sumptuous ranges of Victorian inspired jewellery – scrolls cast in tarnished silvers with hidden meanings, necklaces and earrings dripping with rows of pearls and unusual charms in the form of tiny chandeliers or porcelain horse-heads!

Founded by talented London-born designer Amy Anderson – Comfort Station continues to flourish both in the design and fashion world. Having grown up around markets all her life, it seemed only natural for a London based artist to start selling her creations on a stall in Portobello Market. What initially started as a part-time side venture to fund her art practice, quickly grew into a full-time business and vendors were soon knocking at Amy’s door for orders. This year sees Comfort Station present the eighth themed jewellery collection.

My favourite item of clothing is… my Cowboy boots which I bought in Nashville.

At the top of my furniture wish list is… an enormous French Dresser from Orson and Blake in Sydney which I will never be able to acquire for obvious reasons!

The last thing that really inspired me was… going to see Wildbirds & Peacedrums at the Union Chapel – the venue almost as much as the band.

My comfort food is… fried eggs on toast with Dijon Mustard.

On my desk are… pens, papers, Macbook and monitor, a few boxes of odd objects for inspiration including quite a few miniature toy animals.

This weekend I will… catch up with friends and escape London hopefully.

Tonight I must… help a friend move house and squeeze in a drink at the local.

I love what I do because… what I put in is what I get out – and it’s endlessly creative.

First up, I am so excited to have our first interview of the launch with Andrew Tanner, one of the national treasures of the design world! Andrew has been creating some of the most well-known contemporary ceramics for the last ten years. His collections are seen as some of the most recognisable designs to date (silhouette wall plates and flying ducks) and have been featured in many lifestyle and interior publications. I am loving Andrew’s new online store Designed in England which aims to showcase and sell fresh British Design. Can’t wait to see what it has in store for us!

‘My Interior Life’ will be a weekly section where we find out a bit more about creatives in the industry and their everyday lives.
