Superfolk

I love the fresh and simple style of Irish design studio Superfolk based in Dublin.

The studio’s products are a tribute to their country and reference a way of life rooted in the land, its animals and its weather whilst also striving to emulate the sensitivity and sustainability of the vernacular approach. The studio is focused on working with locally sourced Irish materials and strives for innovation in its approach to natural resources such as wool, wood and leather.

These bright and modern pins were originally used as an accessory for another product but became so popular they were produced in their own right.

Superfolks folksy Currach wallpaper is based on technical drawings for a very old style of river boat used predominantly in the midlands of Ireland. The boat known in Ireland as a ‘Boyne Currach’ is named after the river Boyne. ‘Boyne Currachs’ were used for many purposes, most notoriously illegally fishing for wild Salmon with nets. The beautiful yellow wallpaper is a repeat pattern of the Superfollk logo.

Finally, Superfolk’s rustic table is a large, tough work area raised up on four simple legs. The table is carefully dimensioned to be just big enough for a crowded family dinner yet small enough to be use as a desk. The Table is made from Oak and Ash, with tiny wedges of walnut.

Restyled

We’ve featured the small jewels and treasures of All The Luck in the World before here on the The Beat That My Heart Skipped and since then Jane Schouten, creator and curator has gone on to create more objects in the form of ‘restyled’ homewares. She takes vintage and found furniture and breathes new life into them in the most whimsical of ways.

I love all her restyled cabinets, some given contemporary twists and some a lick of paint and adorned with pretty wallpapers.

I’m loving these nature inspired oak veneered and stone slab ‘Flint’ units from Habitat – I’m so excited by the presence of the smooth stone panels in these products – so luxurious and original for a high street brand!

New Wishbones

Ohhh, these new colourways of the famous Wishbone chairs revealed in Milan this year are even better than the last! I love these luscious Farrow and Ball-esque colours in bright citrus, moss green, mint and pearly white which will be available at The Lollipop Shoppe.

The final range of colours in this series will be revealed in Autumn. I can’t wait!
