To those who read this blog often, I don’t think I have to tell you who Karin Eriksson is as we feature her wonderful hand painted ceramics so often.

Karin, is one of the designers who’s work made me fall in love with the interiors industry six years ago when I began my journey as naive design ‘aficionado’. So can you imagine what it feels like to have her feature in an article on my blog??? So, so thrilling and awe-striking.

I give you Karin and a day in her work and home life in beautiful Stockholm…

My name is Karin Eriksson, I’m a ceramic designer maker with a background in advertising. I trained at Central St Martins in London and ship most of my work abroad to small independent design and craft shops.

I start my day with a cup of tea, yoghurt with fruit and linseed and the daily paper. Then I move on to the computer to check and reply to emails. One day a week I spend at home doing admin, book-keeping etc, but today is not one of those days.

I take the bus, train and a 15 minute walk to my workshop. The whole journey takes about 45 minutes and it’s worth every minute because just look at what welcomes me every day…

Snug Studio is part showroom, part office and part workspace and is a collaboration between Interior Designer Kerstin Reilemann from Domestic Candy [who we featured last year] and architect Berit Luedecke that recently in Hanover.

They shared images of their wonderful studio in progress before its opening. You can see all the love and imagination that went into their space, I love the decorative touches in the simple area, like the garland of paper plates inspired by vintage plates.

In the studio you will be able to buy existing products from Domestic Candy and new products from Snug, like ceramic candle holders inspired by traditional cake molds, pendant lights created from vintage porcelain coffee filters, and wooden benches made using recycled chair backs.

If you like the look of their sweet studio, you can visit their online shop which opens in March.

I could not be MORE excited to welcome one of my most favorite and talented artists all the way from Madrid – Blanca Gomez! We featured Blanca’s work last year and I completely fell in love with her neat and graphic, colourful illustrations and the tiny retro characters that are central to them.

One of the big reasons I started this ‘A Day With’ feature was to get a glimpse into lives that we would never ordinarily see. Blanca sharing her life in Madrid, her home and workspace and the charming neighbourhood she lives in is a priceless experience. Also look out for Blanca’s adorable representative in her pictures – so clever! Thanks so much Blanca!

Hi, my name’s Blanca, I am an illustrator and graphic designer who likes making small things with care, my website is called ‘cosas mínimas’ which means “tiny things” in Spanish,  simple things inspire me and my work.

I live in a little apartment [that is also my studio] in Chamberi, a neighbourhood of Madrid.  The neighbourhood I live in is  lively, there is an school in front of my house, so I hear the kids playing in the morning. A  lot of of old stores and antique shops have survived here, we also have a great market… Sometimes I think it’s like living in a village, but in the center of a big city.

Wake up time The alarm clock works [although it seems that it's broken], but the tic-tac is so noisy and I’ve turned it off. Maybe this is the reason because I always wake up later than i should.

In the morning. I have my studio at home, so after a quick breakfast, I put a pair of warm socks and… I’m ready for work. I usually spend the morning checking emails and working on some commercial projects.

Jake Solomon is a product designer who experiments and creates furniture and unusual objet d’art. His frontyard is the River Siene in and his home is a beautiful rustic French chateau which he shares with his mother a painter, when he is not travelling to London for work. Jake lets us into his wonderfully creative and freeing world in Normandy….
