The Beat That My Heart Skipped is a daily website dedicated to interior and lifestyle products, run by London-based stylist and writer, Rohini Wahi.
Originally started in August 2007, this blog was a place for Rohini to shelve her daily inspirations and document new discoveries in design that made her heart skip! Rohini lives in London with her boyfriend David and his 1971 VW Beetle. She falls in love easily with historical heroes, collects good and bad books and likes to keep a tidy home.
As an interiors stylist and design writer, Rohini has developed a unique view on the industry. Rohini has worked as the news and features writer for international design magazine Spaces and as their sole stylist for 2 years. She has also worked as a contributing Shopping Editor for the Real Homes team, scouring the market for covetable and desirable interior products.
Rohini has also freelanced for top European publications like Elle Decoration, 34 Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Esquire, Ikea Magazine, compiles research for trend prediction companies and styles for top brands. Her work with these significantly varied clients gives her an extensive knowledge on everything on the interiors market from each end of the scale.
The Beat That My Heart Skipped covers interviews with creatives, product reviews, book reviews, trend guides, travel write ups, delicious recipes and all things inspirational. A loose schedule for regular features is as follows…

The Beat That My Heart Skipped Contributors…
Travel Editor, Vanessa Morrish
Vanessa started travelling at the age of four. Her maiden voyage began in Adelaide, where, on Christmas day, she fell asleep on the floor and woke up in a Hong Kong taxi. It was not the most pleasant of awakenings. Chinese drivers like to remind you life is precious and potentially short if you get in their way. There’s also no better way to rise from, an albeit long slumber, than with the sound of pedestrians climbing over your taxi to cross the road. Luckily, in the years since Hong Kong, she’s woken up more peacefully in 109 different cities and 28 countries around the world.
In order to spend some more time in hostels and on budget airlines, Vanessa moved from Australia to London after spending her house deposit on a 4-month stint around the world. Now, working at an advertising agency as a copywriter, at least she can use a slightly (and only just) stronger currency to waste her monthly pay cheque. Read Vanessa’s blog here. Food Editor, Louise Gorrod
Brighton based foodie Louise Gorrod caught the attention of The Beat that my Heart Skipped through her food blog Louise’s Kitchen which she started earlier this year whilst on maternity leave. Seasonal, indulgent and balanced food for family and friends is what Louise loves to cook. When not cooking or musing about food, Louise runs a PR company that specializes in contemporary furniture design with her husband, ‘works the land’ on her family allotment and enjoys being a mum to her two children Lily and Arthur. Contact Louise at louise@thebeatthatmyheartskipped.co.uk.
Books Editor, Lauren Baines
Lauren Baines contributes to The Beat that my Heart Skipped as their resident Bookworm. She graduated from Kent University with a degree in Classics and Archaeology and is currently working in the London advertising industry. When not writing or working, Lauren enjoys dilly dally-ing around London, day-dreaming, travelling the world especially on skis, baking treats and absorbing all things of a historical and cultural nature. Lauren’s desire to build her own Great Library is renowned. Contact Lauren at lauren@thebeatthatmyheartskipped.co.uk.

Things To Make and Do Editor, Cat de Lange
Elbow deep in arts and crafts from a young age, when Cat de Lange got a pet rabbit for her tenth birthday, it inevitably ended up hopping through a paint palette leaving colourful paw prints all over.Despite being named after his artistic talents, White Spirit the bunny quickly grew more interested in carrots than crafts, but for Cat it was a different story. She studied art and science throughout school and ended up combining both passions by working in television, making props for science programmes. At times these were gory [devising a way to blow up a big stomach] and others hard work [hand sewing a giant pencil case big enough to hold 3000 pencils] but they always kept Cat on her toes. These giant cakes were part of a puzzle for a maths programme, and were accompanied by giant books, a man sized chess-board and a huge monopoly set! Who knew maths could be so fun?
Nowadays, Cat works freelance as a science writer, which gives her more time to work on her own DIY and craft projects. When she isn’t painting, gluing, sewing, or writing about science, Cat loves to bake and dreams of opening her own cake shop, designed and decorated by her own fair hands, of course.
