Have you ever seen something so simple that takes your breath away and in the same instance cannot believe that something so simple can indeed take your breath away? A company who have mastered the art of simplicity and attention to colour regularly tknocks me for a six is Farrow and Ball who have just taken their first foray into textiles with a sublime new collaboration with The Rug Company.
Comprised of twelve hand-loomed rugs with Farrow and Ball signature labels like ‘Holland Stone’, ‘Portland Pink’, ‘Order Grey’, ‘Kent Green’, ‘Wooster’ (a stormy grey) and with hues like ‘Melrose Yellow’ and ‘Keepers Red’ adding punches of colour, the rugs are available in three elegant textures. They also have an incredible range of sizes from 1.5 m wide to 5.5m with prices starting at a pretty reasonable £450 (rugs aren’t cheap).
Like the perfect white T-Shirt, I’ve forever been on the hunt for the perfect plain rug, but have always ended up choosing a pattern instead because I’ve never found one that excels in colour, quality and texture… if you’re going to go for a plain, you’ve got to make sure it’s hitting every spot.
