I love, my iPhone. It is so much a part of me that I cannot tell where I begin and it ends. I have taken thousands of pictures with the camera, it has accompanied me on epic holidays, it has helped me to tell stories on Instagram and been a vital asset to my blog. It has served me well. However, I have never been able to shake the feeling that my efforts to document special occasions somehow seem transient and throwaway. I have never once printed an image from my iPhone or settled down for an evening of watching back videos with friends.

Next month, I will be having a baby [!] and this made me start to think that I wanted a ‘real’ camera, one that wouldn’t randomly delete precious memories with a swipe [this has never happened but has always been a fear am I right?!] one that made me really think about how I was shooting my subject rather than 20 furious clicks to capture the moment – and most of all a device that I could use to make long rambling videos of wonderful family days of nothingness, like from my own childhood.

On the hunt for the perfect camera, I was offered the new about how to take a picture, I was really looking for something super simple to use but also have all the features I wanted incase I used them at a later date. Small and lightweight the Nikon D3300, is powerful, comfortable to carry and effortless to operate, and allows you to enjoy superior D-SLR image quality whilst keeping things simple. The camera feels weighty and worthy and it’s sheer ‘realness’ has already begin to inspire me.

I doubt I will be the next David Bailey but hopefully my blog will take on a more stylish look in the coming months as a result of my new tool. Nikon were also kind enough to send me to a Training Course at the Nikon Centre for Excellence in Central London earlier this month so watch out for a review and what I learnt coming up soon.

I’ve starting using this camera and am getting a lot of great shots. Had to take a course to get to know a little better but now I am comfortable and able to capture any moment!
