Who doesn’t like stripes!? US home-ware brand West Elm just announced a collaboration with American fashion designer Steven Alan known for his fresh and directional clothing collections. ‘Steven Alan Stripes for West Elm’, the first collaboration of its kind for both the fashion designer and the home furnishings brand, includes bedding, vases, rugs and furniture in bold and handcrafted striped patterns.
Enriching the collection are West Elm’s continuing measures to promote artisanal practices around the world [the brand pledged $35 million towards handcrafted businesses last year]. Steven Alan and the brand travelled to India to produce the collection using entirely traditional and handcrafted techniques, you can see the group’s trip in a series of videos here, here and below. Beautiful and heartwarming, the results of the trip are hand-loomed and hand-dyed fabrics that are totally one-of-a-kind.
Now the West Elm UK site is launched, I am hoping the collection will soon be available to buy for fans on this side of the pond.
