I love coming back from a press preview with the gloriously weighty feeling of discovery. Even if it’s just one beautiful brand, hours in a cold design-fair hall feel worthwhile. Last night at the press preview of Design Junction the object of my affection immediately caught my eye. ‘Aelder Design’ [pronounced ‘elder’] is a brand new mid-century inspired collaboration between designers William Floyd Maclean and Natasha Lawless.
The collection comprised of hand-turned wood tableware, smoked glass tumblers and elegant ash, copper and glass vases. Sublime!
As if that discovery wasn’t enough – one half of the duo, Natasha Lawless also showed her own brand of simple, folk inspired textiles alongside the collection. The pieces combine wool, leather and linen and simple geometric patterning. I’m not normally a fan of lampshades, preferring them to blend into the rest of the room, but these are something else – the colour palette is just simple and spot on.
All available to buy soon!
