Stylish Friends

This weekend I slotted in a shiny new addition to the blog’s sidebar – Stylish Friends which will soon be populated by links to just that – super inspirational blogs by people I am so proud to call my friends.

Blogging can often be a lonely [albeit chic] pass-time and after beginning The Beat That My Heart Skipped way back in the summer of 2007 for many years felt like I was kind of doing it solo on the interiors scene… [ this was actually it’s original incarnate which had much more of a naive quality about it]. Anyway – these days blogs are as natural an accessory for a creative mind as an iPhone  – and I am so so happy to have some great and talented friends who have jumped on the bandwagon that I can get excited about the power of blogging with and flounce about to events with… and am super proud to add their lovely banners to my sidebar.

Let me introduce Just a Little Joy by Elle Decoration Homes Editor Tessa Pearson. Started at the beginning of a new year [2012] this blog is a celebration of the small moments in life. Written in a lyrical way that makes you think that life really is ok just the way it is – Tessa with her great eye documents vintage find from her weekends [like stoneware charity shop mugs for 50p that thrillingly look like something you might spot at Anthropologie] and shares foodie discoveries from cosy dinner parties like a quick mid-week Peach Appletini.

What I love about Tessa’s blog is that it is simple and honest and accessible – it makes you realise that life can be inspirational just as it is. Thanks Tessa! : )

My second stylish friend is someone I have introduced before but deserves a second mention. The amusingly titled Arthur and Martha is a super sleek shopping blog by Rachel Ward Chief Sub-Editor at Elle Decoration. Over the years in her role at the magazine Rachel has seen so many design delicacies pass through her desk she has become a quick draw at stripping back the copy to get to the point.

With Arthur and Martha Rachel curates a tight edit of only the newest and most beautiful product she thinks you should know about – a quick hit of ‘interior style for less’ products highlighted by prices and a click through link to buy. She is also great at scouting out items for desperate shoppers so drop her a query at [she is going to love me for that shout out : ) ].
