Last week I went to Pick Me Up Graphics and Art Fair at Somerset House and fell in love with the work of Irish exhibitor Nigel Peak.
Nigel has grown up and lives in a rural area of Ireland – his rich artwork reflects a fascination with the relationship between nature and the city. His work is almost like a scientific study of his surroundings, with his own notes and observations becoming the titles of repetitively marked and coloured landscape pieces.
I was so tempted to grab one of his original art pieces that were up for sale – they were soooo beautiful, but sadly my budget didn’t stretch to a £450 piece…instead I bought his beautiful new book Strom – observational illustrations from a week spent in a cabin in Norway.
