Royal Tichelar Makkum Factory Shop and Inspiration
I am so inspired by clever and unusual colour combinations like those in this set of tableware for Royal Tichelaar Makkum by Hella Jongerius.
Although the colours at first look mismatched, you can tell after a second look that the accent hues were picked so carefully. The lavender is a dreamy off pink hue and the red is not quite a red, creating a glorious raspberry punch! The two work so well with the grey and blue hues.
The B-set is an icon in Dutch design and known for beautifully imperfect plates that can barely be stacked in an orderly way, dishes that are not quite circular and mugs of varying thickness!
Whilst I was falling in love with the B-Set, I also fell in love with the Royal Tichelaar Makkum flagship 1.200 m2 shop and factory in the Netherlands…
It also has a little cafe that serves traditional food of the province!
