Hi all thanks eveyone for your feedback. In reply to Helena this recipe is meant to inspire people to have a go at cooking. To show parents how easy it can be to make a really delicious meal that you and your child can enjoy. I’m definitely not trying to make parents feel guilty for occasionally using commercial baby food. From my own experiences I have found some parents using commercial baby food as a staple part of their child's diet, rather than alongside home cooking. I’ve also met many others who do cook for their children but feel that is a long arduous task and that their children have to be fed something special from a recipe aimed specifically at them. I try to come up with recipes that can be thrown together without too much trouble and with whatever you have available, that everyone in the family can eat together. My recipe is there to encourage families to cook more and eat together more.
Busy parents have so much going on as it is, coming up with new, easy and tasty recipes can be on the bottom of a long list sometimes.
Happy cooking all X

In response to Helena's comment, I agree that premium baby food ranges such as Ella's Kitchen are great and brilliant when out and about with babies - I use them on such occasions, but I don't believe that Louise Barnard placed bought shop baby food in a negative light, but simply shared her great recipe with us to inspire rather than pressurise parents. Surely it's not rocket science - you one meal to feed ALL your family, and another issue in support of home cooking for your baby (when you can) is that it is considerably cheaper! Ella's Kitchen as lovely as they might be cost anything from 80p a sachet upwards! So with Louise's recipe you can save yourself a lot of money in the long run.

why is there so much criticism of commercial baby food? Ranges like Plum Baby or Ella's are fantastic and so good when you are out and about. They have their place alongside home cooked food and maybe writers could stop pressurising parents and making them feel guilty if every meal isn't home cooked.

As a mum of 3 and ex nanny I'll tell you now that the majority of kids will go through a fussy stage no matter what you wean them on. It's about them realising they can exercise control and is part of their personality forming!

you could even leave it chunky and let the baby feed itself - a la baby led weaning! we did this with our daughter and it was marvellous, no pureeing or mashing, just chunky finger foods and a happy baby.
