Helen Musselwhite is a paper artist and illustrator who works from her studio in Manchester creating highly individual framed paper sculptures. Each piece combines intricate hand cut layers of coloured paper and strong graphic images arranged to make interesting and intriguing scenes in box frames many of which feature charming cottages and wildlife in the woods, inspired by walking her dog through the country. She gives us a peek into her inside life…
I collect… shoes I don’t wear very often
I can’t live without… paper, my computer, my partner, my dog
My guilty pleasure is… this week it’s Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey
Our house is filled with… little scraps of paper that the dog steals from my studio.
I treasure my… family
Right now I can’t stop thinking about… new ideas for my glass dome pieces
Currently I am reading… The Still Point by Amy Sackville [I illustrated the cover!]
My favourite item of clothing is… my turquoise ankle boots [I do wear these!]
At the top of my furniture wish list is… an Eames rocker
The last thing that really inspired me was… my daily walk with Earl the dog
My comfort food is… crisps [apparently I’m a crisp monster!]
On my desk are… paper owls
This weekend I will… step away from my desk
Tonight I must… answer some emails
I love what I do because… I can create to my hearts content
