Good morning all, how was your weekend? Mine was spent watching the amazing biopic Grey Gardens… such a sad and unusual story about lost opportunities in life. The 2009 film features Drew Barrymore and is based on the 1975 documentary of the same name.
In 1972, a tabloid newspaper in New York revealed an extraordinary story – two women, mother and daughter Edith and Edie Bouvier Beale aunt and first cousin of Jackie Kennedy were discovered living in squalor and isolation in their dilapidated once glittering family home in the Hamptons. Aspiring singers and wonderful eccentrics, they let two documentary film makers into their home to film their extraordinary lives. The 2009 film shows their lives during the documentary and how they came to their present fate.
Although a sad tale, the characters are hilarious and charming and you can’t help but be mesmerized. I would recommend everyone watch this, I did – three times in one weekend!
Anyway, we have lots to look forward to this week, beautiful interiors and exciting design discoveries, lots of good things to eat and new people to meet! Next, an interview with Karine Kong of Bodie and Fou…
