Top Drawer S/S 2010

Ok, want to see what gems I found at Top Drawer Spring/Summer 2010? Top Drawer is a twice a year exhibition and buying event for trade and press. Here products from a unique mixture of new and established designers and international brands can be found. Sectors to buy from are Gifts, Children’s, Stationery and Greetings, Home and Fashion.

A few exhibitors allowed me to take pictures, a few did not, so i’ll post about them later this week…

An exhibitor who’s stall absolutely delighted me was La La Luna, who’s huge array of porcelain products were all so unique despite their quantity – each collection was a pure joy. La La Luna showed products inspired by nature, collections of porcelain sea-shells and mussel-husks, interesting fruits and gourds, each leaf and petal carved into stone, and my favourite – safari inspired tableware – sugar bowls with handles made of bold horse, giraffe and tiger heads.

Present Time is a distributor of Swedish design and exhibited some really amazing lighting. Modern chandeliers and cluster lights are really on trend right now, and Present Time had an array of stunning designs on display from Leitmotiv. I loved this pierced white cluster light, each one a different style…

This more modern version was a variation…

These ceramic money boxes from kids brand JIP also caught my eye. Cute and graphic.

Now, I had to drag myself away from this stall… Jade Gallup creates wonderfully quirky jewellery from porcelain shapes. Pretty rabbit heads and and birds, giant diamond shapes and anchors hang from necklaces. Tattoo style hearts and skulls and clouds with thunderbolts double as brooches – all in an array of delicious colours!

It was good to see some strong stationary products at the show. Lollipop displayed some retro invitation, and thankyou packs which are a really easy and reasonably priced idea.

Some cute illustrated paperweights…

I also loved Lollipop’s ‘This book belongs to…’ stamps – what a great idea instead of the traditional stickers. These can be used over and over again.

One of my favourites Ninteen Seventy Three were exhibiting too. I love their graphic range of wrapping paper – so good to see them in the flesh rather than just online. Beautiful, colour perfect works of art. Their new ranges of cards, safari inspired ‘Wildside’ and folk inspired ‘Heidi’ were also on show – and my favourites the amusing ‘ Claudettes!”
