DIY Wallpapered Fira Drawers

Wallpaper Chest

An easy and stylish use for any wallpaper scraps. Clever crafter Chez Larrson shows us how to cover a classic Ikea set of Fira CD drawers…

Ok, I can’t stop. I have these wallpaper scraps laying about and they are beckoning me to use them.

I’m one of those people who tire easily of my finished craft projects. I enjoy them for a little while but am always happy to move on and redo them just for the fun of it.

pimped my Fira chest of drawers back in October but decided to try wallpaper for a change.

It’s so super simple. Lay the drawer on the back of the rolled out piece of wall paper and use the drawer as a template.

I cut a piece out roughly first , spray glued the back of it, placed the drawer on it and then neatened it by cutting along the edge of the drawer.

After turning the drawer over I cut the notch out with the knife from the front. Repeat for all drawers.

Easy peasy.

Wow. That’s simple but looks so effective. I have a set of those drawers I was thinking about giving away when I move later this year but now I think I’ll just revamp them. Thanks for the post.

wow – that looks amazing! definitely something I will try, despite the fact that I do not have wallpaper scraps… but I guess I’ll be able to find something suitable, I have a knack for beautiful wrapping paper, so that might work.
How funny to see that jar of buttons… I am a button maniac and have a huge collection, part of which has now been turned into a montessori game for the boys (find the pairs, sort by size, shape, colour etc).. buttons rock!
