My Inside Life… Famille Summerbelle

Famille Summerbelle

Famille Summerbelle creates beautiful papercut printed products for children. Famille Summerbelle is Julie [designer and creative director] and Simon [all the other stuff] and are the proud parents of Ophelia and Lucien. The name Summerbelle is an amalgam of their two family names and the French ‘Famille’ is a simple but meaningful nod to Julie’s nationality.

Famille Summerbelle was launched in 2008 and developed when Julie was pregnant with Ophelia, evolving naturally as Julie was designing products for her bedroom. Their most popular products to date are Map Prints, and Julie’s wonderful creation for Ophelia, the Family Tree.

I collect… glass candle holders and design books.

I cant live without… my Mac computer.

My guilty pleasure is… art books.

Our house is filled with… magazines: bike magazines for my husband, interior deco magazines for me and stickers magazines for my daughter.

I treasure my… two children Ophelia and Lucien.

Right now I can’t stop thinking about… a full night sleep. My son is only 2 months old…

Currently I am reading… ‘Build-On’ [Gestalten] Converted Architecture and Transformed Buildings. Getting inspiration for my dream home. One day I hope to design our house. That’s on my wish list!

My favourite item of clothing is… my newly bought Diane Von Furstenberg dress. I haven’t been able to wear it yet as it is too dressy to have around two young children!

At the top of my furniture wish list is… ‘My Beautiful Backside’ sofa by Doshi  Levien.

The last thing that really inspired me was… the ‘Build-On’ book that I am reading.

My comfort food is… a fresh baguette, cheese and a glass of red wine.

On my desk are… too many papers to file, 2 empty cups of coffee, receipts, lots of books for inspiration, a Pantone colour book, Wacom board, pencils, a scalpel, cutting board, lots of coloured papers, a camera and my computer.

This weekend I will… go for a walk in Paris and meet my friends.

Tonight I must… sleep.

I love what I do because… I can be creative in my own time. I don’t have to commute every day as my studio is at home, so I can work in my bed if I want to!
