Before we head into the kitchen I thought we’d take a look at Abigail Ryan’s beautifully patterned teatowels.

Sometimes certain teatowels are so lovely, I don’t feel like using them for practical purposes – I’d use these to cover a small side table, or dress up the top of a fridge and as a base for small displays.

This Baroque manor in Oxfordshire from Fresh Locations fills me with joie de vivre!

Brimming with a mix of contemporary and ancient larger than life artifacts, this museum-like stately home feels like it’s positively teeming with life although its permanent inhabitants are inanimate.

Grand entrances allow Greek statues to frolic and play on its expansive marble floors and, quieter rooms play host to humorous taxidermy animals [not the scary kind] and theatrical old master style portraits.

To private living areas, a mix of highly contemporary objects are added such as framed iconic photography, colourful modular seating and ethereal silver disco balls which play a spectacular game with the light reflected over high ceilings and marbled statues.

Smithfield by Burnt Toast

Smithfield

Sustainable designer Peter Masters and I’m proud to say, clever, clever friend of mine has completed yet another masterpiece in retail interiors. This guy is so clever, all you need to do is spend an hour with him to discover that you want him as part of your team!

Master’s brief was to create something more unique than the existing Mensware shops around Manchester, to make the Smithfield shop stand out from the crowd and create a new kind of shopping experience but with a small budget.

The complex interior that can only be described as electric, quirky and most of all fun, combines Burnt Toast’s signature deconstructive shapes with a blend of cardboard boxes and tubes that make the space an exciting place to shop in whilst not costing the earth… literally.

Made from 100% recycled materials, the whole idea behind this shop was to show, that we do not need to use vast manufacturing, materials and resource to make a retail shop that works and still retains an interesting design. The whole shop can be changed around with not much cost, by stacking the boxes in a different form, by moving the cardboard tubes lights around and by placing the plinth in different places, all with ease. This will help the shop stay looking fresh for years to come. The cardboard dogs were designed with the logo of the shop in mind and retaining the eco recycling story.

Le Cirque

Cirque

I found this mysterious wallpaper on German wallpaper distributor Tapeten Agentur’s website, with only the title ‘Le Cirque’ attached.

I literally can’t stop daydreaming about its characters – an exotic troupe of brave acrobats and glamorous show-people, with their menagerie of animals navigating across a magical globe. This would be so beautiful simply framed.

Anyone have any idea as to who it’s by?

Breakfast from Simply Breakfast

Morning! Phew what a week! We are nearly ensconced in our home and it’s so strange to realise that something which seemed so impossible at the beginning of the week [we had a lot of stuff] is now within our reach! Our tree went up late last night [thanks to the lovely people at Pedlars] in a bare living room nearly clear of boxes, and we are starting to finally feel at home…

Next week will be our last week at The Beat That My Heart Skipped until the New Year [we will be back on Monday the 4th of Jan] and we have an amazing array of things to send you off into the holidays with. However, today we have a mix of things to keep you busy [or not] on a Friday, an eccentric stately home filled with greek statues and curious artifacts, some lovely textiles you won’t want to use, and a festive egg-nogg cupcake recipe in Louise’s Kitchen – yummy! Next, a wallpaper that has been keeping me up at night…
