Our next guest needs no introduction, and to have him grace our site is an honour and a delight. Rob Ryan, purveyor of the original poetic paper cut art inspiring love, melancholy and humour, shares his inside life with us…
I collect… Old Soul Records.
I cant live without… Books.
My guilty pleasure is… Buying Old Soul Records.
Our house is filled with… old newspapers, magazines, clothes, books, the mess made by a family in a small flat.
I treasure my… studio.
Right now I can’t stop thinking about… A collaborative project I am working on with designer Michael Marriott, it’s a rocking chair.
Currently I am reading… Grayson Perry’s Monograph (Thames & Hudson)
My favourite item of clothing is… My cords made by “Old Town” of Holt, they’re so soft and warm, I’m wearing them now.
At the top of my furniture wish list is… We need a new dining table.
The last thing that really inspired me was… Grayson Perry’s huge tapestry at The Victoria Miro Gallery.
My comfort food is… Mash.
On my desk are… Pens, pencils, rubbers, desk lamps, a lightbox, papercuts and cutting boards, undrunk cups of tea, phone, stapler…. Work stuff!
This weekend I will… do as little as possible but on Saturday night I’m off to a “Dallas” themed birthday party.
Tonight I must… sit at home and watch t.v.
I love what I do because… I do what I love!!
