I am completely intrigued by the cooking of Estonian food blogger who writes Nami-Nami . Drawn in by the simplicity of her images I began to read a post about her nephew visiting during his school holidays and requesting makaroni-piimasupp or pasta and milk soup, which was a traditional Estonian dish of humble origins.
I read on, slightly confused as to what milk soup was, then discovered it was simply made with milk and ever so slightly sweet with pasta shapes added. This dish completely melted my heart, having all the connotations of a childhood comfort food, eaten when you’re tired or unwell. It’s even recommended to eat with some juicy ham sandwiches on the side. Simple and rewarding.
I kept reading and discovered a wealth of wholesome and unusual traditionally inspired dishes.
