Snowflake

A few weeks ago I posted some cookie cutter products from Cox and Cox. I was especially intrigued by the giant snowflake cookie with the stained glass window style sugary details. Passing it off as a baking feat only reserved for catalogue shots, I sighed wistfully and moved on. Some weeks later, my lovely Food Editor Louise sent me an email detailing how she effortlessly created these treats just the other day! Well!

Luckily for us, Louise likes to share…

I love to make edible Christmas gifts, particularly with my daughter Lily who loves to get involved. This year I have come across the ‘Giant Snowflake Cookie Cutter’, £14.00 from Cox&Cox . We tried this ingenious cutter out using Nigella Lawson’s Butter Cut-Out Biscuit recipe from How to be a Domestic Goddess – dropping in coloured boiled sweets into the spaces before baking and were chuffed with the results.

The cookies will make lovely presents and if there are any spare they make for beautiful homespun decorations hung on a tree or in the window for a seasonal stained glass effect – Magical! This ‘monster’ of a cutter is 19cm diameter, but if you prefer your cookies on the smaller side Cox and Cox also sell a box of five smaller assorted snowflake cookie cutters for £12.00 which you’ll be sure to use year after year. – Louise x
