Deborah Bowness is one of the pioneers of hand-printed wallpaper. Trained in Leeds, and later in London at The Royal College of Art, Bowness has been designing and hand-printing wallpaper for over 8 years. Her unique style has adorned stylish spaces such as the New York Soho House and Phillip Stark’s Yoo-Aldelgade in Copenhagen. Her collections consist of a surreal dual reality, where 2D images of beautiful objects nestle in amongst your own.
Deborah shared a short but very sweet day in her lovely studio in St Leonards on Sea with us, and very excitingly gave us a peek into how she creates some of her designs.

I arrive at the studio on the Grande Parade with a sea view. Inspiring & distracting, timing unknown…
The space at 14 Grande Parade is used as a studio /print space and show room. Its 6 windows bring in perfect light for photographing and also provide a window to a constantly evolving wallpaper installation.
