My Inside Life… Ferm Living

Danish brand Ferm LIVING has spread its branches wide through the design industry with its clever wallpapers, wall stickers and textile prints. In fact ‘ferm’ means clever in Danish. Founded by designer Trine Anderson Ferm LIVING launched their first collection of Wallpapers in 2006 and their first collection of Wall Stickers in 2007. The inspiration for Trine’s designs comes from many different things, but mostly by the Scandinavian nature.

In many of her designs, like the now iconic Pine Tea Towel natural elements have been reinterpreted and combined with graphic features. We chat to Trine about her home life and inspirations…

I collect… birds in all kinds of shapes, sizes and materials.

I cant live without… my family, my company and diet coke…

My guilty pleasure is… diet coke.

Our house is filled with… both new designer furniture and old vintage finds. We love furniture.

I treasure my… calender.

Right now I can’t stop thinking about… the new collection for spring 2010 that I’m working on at the moment.

Currently I am reading… I would love to be able to tell you that I’m reading some fancy Japanese artbook or an intellectual poet collection, but to be honest, I’m reading a quite boring book. I have read the first pages several times, and can’t seem to get any further – I can’t even remember the title.

My favourite item of clothing is… dresses!

At the top of my furniture wish list is… Sofa from Autoban.

The last thing that really inspired me was… nature in a chemistry lab.

My comfort food is… chocolate and grapes.

On my desk are… my computer [Apple of course], keys, phone, calender, pantone swatches, a messy bunch of print outs, a ‘To-do-list’ and a dirty coffee mug.

This weekend I will… go to Copenhagen.

Tonight I must… play with my son.

I love what I do because… it’s my greatest interest!
