Everytime I make a visit to Few and Far, I am left feeling that all is right with the world. This is no exaggeration, if you have experienced this emotive and heartwarming store in historic South Kensington, then you will know exactly how I feel. So I was thrilled to be heading to their Christmas preview [brilliantly held during the appropriate season] on a cool winters eve as lights twinkled magically in the darkness of old London.
As we headed inside, we were armed with a tingling glass of mulled wine, greeted by Few and Far’s warm employees, then plunged forth into a Winter forest.
As well as new delicacies in home-wares on offer for Christmas, the clever Priscilla Carluccio invited along the most wonderfully eccentric group of contributors to Few and Far…
We met the lovely Wendy Brandon who’s delicious handmade preserves are stocked in-store, and who practically forced us to try every one [honestly]!
A potter who’s name I unfortunately didn’t catch was creating his pieces on one side of the room, whilst French book binder Rachel Hazell set up studio on the other…
My favourite guest however, was the charming woodcutter set up by the fir trees, creating wonderfully artistic [but wholly practical] bundles of wood for fires – and if you look closely on the chair, natural coathooks from off-cuts!
A wonderful and surprising evening and I will certainly be back to buy some of my most special festive gifts. Now where else would you find an experience like that but at Few and Far?
And yes we did leave light footed and with the Christmas spirit filling our lungs!
