Shan Annabelle Valla is a London-based designer who graduated from the Royal College of Art earlier this year. In 2005 she was awarded ‘New Designer of Year’ for the ’subtle beauty’ of her work, Shan won the ‘Charlotte Frasier Award’ 2008, and the ‘Matthews Wrightson Charitable Trust Award’ 2009.
Shan works with glass and porcelain, creating quirky luxury objects for interiors and playing with the combining of materials considered functional and extravagant. An example of this are Shan’s covetable ‘gold tops’ porcelain milk bottles formed using utiltiarian milk bottle moulds but made of the most beautiful material, topped with gold lustre bottle caps!
