Romantic dinner anyone…? This piece of construction has taken my breath away. Just the notion that such a fragile and contemporary structure can be balanced atop something so old to create an experience so completely unique, is profound.
Installed by Parisian architect Pascal Grasso Nomiya is a temporary (closes July 2010) transportable restaurant perched on the roof of the grand Palais de Tokyo museum in Paris. The structure features a dining room for twelve people with a panoramic view over the Seine and the Eiffel tower. The interior is minimalist, furnished with white Corian furniture and a grey wooden floor. The 18 metre-long structure was part constructed in the Cherbourg boatyard in northern France and transported to Paris in two parts, where it was assembled on the roof of the grand Palais de Tokyo.
Can you imagine eating somewhere so full of Parisian light in the daytime…? Dinner prices are €80 and €60 for lunch. See a great review of the restaurant here and a mesmerizing video of the restaurant being assembled.
