Some masculine furniture for an up to now fairly feminine Tuesday. Benchmark produces contemporary classics by names such as Terence Conran, Thomas Heatherwick and Russell Pinch as well as pieces from up-and-coming young designers and their own in-house team.
Benchmark’s beautiful pieces are handmade and sustainable in a way that will last several lifetimes, harking back to the days when a family would buy a dining table that would last till their children were grown. As I sit here typing on my glossy white Ikea MDF desk I wonder if my home will ever be filled with the ‘loved and the cherished, till death do us part’ variety of furniture.
The breathtaking Emily Console table above is lovingly made with walnut wood with a baize lined pewter fronted drawer. Below the Furrow Sideboard made from Oak has the textural quality of Russel Pinch’s award winning Wave sideboard, so simple and basic yet sturdy, this sideboard looks made to grow old with age. Finally my favourite the Honor 10 chest of drawers in walnut wood with classic Carrara marble tops and dovetailed drawers just oozes bygone elegance.
When I grow up – I am investing in any one of these beauties….
