My Inside Life…Andrew Tanner
First up, I am so excited to have our first interview of the launch with Andrew Tanner, one of the national treasures of the design world! Andrew has been creating some of the most well-known contemporary ceramics for the last ten years. His collections are seen as some of the most recognisable designs to date (silhouette wall plates and flying ducks) and have been featured in many lifestyle and interior publications. I am loving Andrew’s new online store Designed in England which aims to showcase and sell fresh British Design. Can’t wait to see what it has in store for us!
‘My Interior Life’ will be a weekly section where we find out a bit more about creatives in the industry and their everyday lives.

I collect…objects that have a story attached to them, old chairs, old children’s games, books and object d’art.
I cant live without…my moleskine diary.
My guilty pleasure is…collecting other ceramists work and hiding the price label from my family.
Our house is filled with…other peoples ceramics.
I treasure my…daughter’s drawings she does for me when she hides them in my suitcase when going on travels for work.
Right now I can’t stop thinking about…preparations for this busy design period, launching new collections and hoping that the work arrives in time from the manufacturers.
Currently I am reading…nothing, i’m writing a book at the moment called ‘Batch; Craft Design and Product’ and so the thought of trying to read and write is beyond me!
My favourite item of clothing is…black Converse Boots
At the top of my furniture wish list is…A Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Daybed.
The last thing that really inspired me was…Sherwood Forest.
My comfort food is…caramel Digestive biscuits.
On my desk are…my laptop, sketchbook and pencils.
This weekend I will…meet up with friends in Brighton who we have not seen for months and catch up over drinks at Hotel du Vin.
Tonight I must…pack for the weekend and switch off.
I love what I do because…I have the chance to make a difference through product and celebrate British design and British manufacture.
