I love hotel interiors and design. I love that just for a few days you can inhabit a world where you do the same things you do at home but that is totally unlike your own.  Last week I visited St Martins Lane Hotel for a press show and fell in love with the decor…love the pops of yellow…

My 26th year celebration passed with lots of love from family and friends and a whole weekend of festivity (oh and lots of good food and drink). I was thinking that on birthdays a person has to be so dependent on the kindness and affection of other people for the occasion to be successful. On reflection, feeling glum about turning another year older and perhaps not achieving all my goals seems trite in comparison to the outpouring of love I felt from everyone I knew this weekend…surely you’ve done something right when you find yourself surrounded by such wonderful company : ) Thanks everyone!

I am really wanting some of Heather Taylor’s (of LA in Bloom) Californian treats right now. Heather owns an art gallery in LA but also has a passion for good food. I love visiting her blog to see what LA style cuisine she’s been sampling…since i’m visiting LA in September I plan on looking out for similar treats…YUM!

On Sunday night we watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – so so sad…I know the story is impossible but it still made me so thoughtful…

Most of the film was based in New Orleans which is one of the places that has always been on the top of my wishlist to visit…I believe it to be one of the most magical, emotional cities in the world. When I was younger I used to read/watch anything I could get my hands on about New Orleans, it’s vibrant culture, its colourful gothic history and especially it’s enchanting architecture speaks to me!

How beautiful are these buildings, can’t you just feel the rooms glittering with late night soirees and late afternoon tea parties? The first one was the home of Anne Rice at one point.
