David Wiseman is a US based large scale ceramacist, creating delicate and wonderous fairytale sculptures and installations to adorn and embellish the most fantastical interiors. The work reminds me of what might have been within the decadent interiors of Imperial Russia.
This ceiling sculpture is composed of more than 500 porcelain blossoms and nearly 100 plaster branches. It covers a 16 by 17 foot ceiling in the dining room of a client’s house in LA. Each blossom is made in moulds but trimmed by hand and each finished in one of three glazes, matt, gloss and semi-gloss so no two are the same.
