Vitra Edition is an extension of Vitra, the international furniture company focusing mainly on design in the workplace. Vitra Edition is a kind of playground for designers to create products without the constraints of the market and gives the designers a sense of creative liberation effecting in surprising results. I like these office pets by Hella Jongerius!

Spell It Out…

Via Letter is a discovery that i have been hoarding for a while, saving it for the right occasion – having not found one as yet, i thought it was time to share! This online facility allows you to send special messages using real letters through the quaint method of post! If you want to send something a bit more imaginative than a greeting card, Via Letter is the perfect indulgence.

The website takes you through the easy process step by step allowing you to see what you are creating as you go along. Via Letter gives you a list of suggestions to inspire…adore, everlasting, star, bubble, please….the 3D fonts popping up as you type allowing you to see exactly what will be sent. Finally there is the option of gift-wrapping where your ‘note’ will arrive in style!

Silhouette

Andrew Tanner’s ‘Silhouette’ collection is reminiscent of the trend in Victorian interiors which displayed plates on walls for purely decorative and non-functional purposes.

Computer cutting techniques are used on the surface of bone china plates to pierce romantic imagery through the body of the clay.

Caravan Style

The website alone for this boutique in the heart of Spitalfield’s market in London’s East End, is inspiration enough. A series of beautiful collages displaying ‘Caravan’s’ style of products are reminiscent of faded seaside vignettes. The boutique itself reflects this uniqueness, carrying an eclectic array of furniture, fashion and vintage inspired accessories for the home.

Located in the heart of the West Village in New York, Greenwich Letterpress is a retro style stationary shop, specialising in gorgeous and whimsical cards and wrapping paper made using the artisanal old-fashioned method of the Letterpress.

Run by sister’s Amy and Beth who originate from a family of printers, the store specialises in custom made cards for all occasions featuring woodland creatures and vintage designs. GL also carries their own ready made designs, my favourite being the Nature Calls series and beautiful graphic Thankyou cards.

All cards allow you to; choose a card style, embellish with covetable fonts, select from papers and  pick from an array of gemlike colours. They also have an online shop for internet orders.

I would love to invest in their bespoke vintage business cards as above, but would never want to give any away!
